So, what is a psychological assessment? A psychological evaluation includes information regarding a person’s mental, emotional and cognitive health. A psychologist will administer this test to assess the cognitive abilities of the client, their strengths and weaknesses, as well as take note of anything that might be affecting them.
Virtuous Circle offers assessments that are appropriate for many situations, including:
There are many reasons why individuals go through psychological assessments. Some just want to improve their personal and professional well-being while others want to understand themselves and their motivations better. When it comes to understanding why one may need a psychological assessment, the reasons can be many. For example, if an individual feels that his family life, friendships and professional relationships are suffering due to some negative aspects of his personality or behaviour, then there is a good chance that they will benefit from psychological assessment services.
A psychological assessment will give you an honest, personal view of yourself. This self-awareness can lead to life-changing career, relationship and lifestyle choices. Is it worth it? It can be the difference between knowing your destination and just going in circles.
The Virtuous Circle Approach to Psychological Assessment: We believe that every individual is unique and his/her situation requires an individualized approach. Therefore, our assessment process is designed to meet the specific needs of each client. We begin with a thorough interview to gather information about the client’s background, current functioning, strengths and challenges.
In addition, we often arrange for additional information such as school reports, medical history and diagnostic testing results to be transferred to us for review. Once all the relevant information has been obtained and reviewed we formulate an assessment plan with the client. If necessary, we also provide recommendations for further services (e.g., consultation with other professionals or referral to treatment).
We offer flexible hours and appointments are available during evenings and weekends. Please call us at 587-856-8369 or fill out a contact form if you would like more information about our services or to book your psychological assessment in Calgary today!
Everything. Well, there are specific areas which are associated with the evaluations and they include learning, behaviour, social skills, mood and anxiety, and cognitive processing; but comprehensive psychological evaluations go beyond just assessing as symptoms. The comprehensive evaluation looks at the client as a whole person with a focus on their strengths, what is currently going well for them, what areas of concern they may have shown in their past or current functioning, and to plan accordingly for their future needs.
Mental health assessments are done by a variety of professionals, depending on what you or your loved one need assessed. A mental health assessment is basically a few tests and/or questions used to give a psychologist or mental health professional an idea of how your mind is working. The results of a mental health assessment are given to your doctor so they can report back to you any important findings.
A Psychological Evaluation is a process that helps to determine what psychological factors are influencing a person and/or their behaviours. An evaluation usually begins with an exam by a psychologist who conducts an interview of the person and reviews their history, including any psychiatric diagnoses that have been made and the results of previous evaluations. Depending on the type of testing that is to be completed, a Psychological Evaluation can take 2 to 8 hours.
