My name is Christina Bird. I am first generation born and raised in Mohkinstis (Calgary). My roots are Red River Métis, Swampy Cree, Irish, and Scottish. I am a second-generation social worker. I completed my formal education at Mount Royal University and the University of Calgary. I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work (June 2021) and have been a registered social worker in Alberta since 2014. I have experience working with youth, women, Indigenous people, and those experiencing disability, addiction, and homelessness.
My approach is holistic and collaborative. I like to look at the whole person, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual, when adventuring into the healing process with them. Humans are social creatures; our environment affects our well-being, and we are not meant to face life challenges alone. If you are feeling stuck and unsure who to talk to, I can be here for you. Together we can work towards understanding your own unique strengths and abilities, build on your coping skills and challenge any thoughts you believe are holding you back.
I use a variety of strength based and client centred approaches to meet you where you are at. If you are interested in a specific approach you would like to follow, let me know and we can discuss it further. My hope is to make you feel safe, understood, and create a space where you are comfortable to face whatever brought you to therapy in the first place. It will be an honour to walk with you during a part of your healing journey.
